Rodgers and Hammerstein have taken the well known fairy tale of Cinderella and turned it into a broadway musical. As the show progresses, Cinderella is transformed from a chimney sweep to a beautiful princess, showing us that with the help of a fairy godmother, nothing is impossible! Cinderella attends the ball and is swept away by Prince Charming, but the clock strikes midnight and the magic ends!
As Cinderella quickly runs away, the glass slipper is dropped. Prince Charming searches the kingdom for the maiden whose foot will fit the slipper. The Stepmother and her daughters all try to get the glass slipper on, but alas, it just won't fit. When the Prince is almost ready to give up, Cinderella appears, tries on the slipper, and again, the magic occurs. Impossible things happen every day.
This show was first performed on CBS television and starred Julie Andrews as Cinderella.
