1998 Volunteer Appreciation Tea

Thanks! to the volunteers who shared their time and talent this past year with our ACT program. The Adults and Children Together program was initiated in the fall of 1996 by the Heart of Iowa Chapter of the national P. Buckley Moss Society. The Society promotes and supports projects which benefits children. First grade teachers Mrs. Tayler and Mrs. Vust are Chapter members.

Shown in the picture above are, in front from the left, Florence Walker, Kathryn Bottorff, Ivy Olson, Maryellen Hanson, Inez Holt, and Ruth Peterson.
Pictured in the back row, from the left, are Pat Hill, Pat Emanuelson, Mildred Boe, Signe Swenson, Doris Rude, Gerry Tuchek, and Marilou Krumm. Absent from the photo were Mary Embrey and Betty Severson.

Ivy Olson has been selected to receive
the Governor's Volunteer Award for 1997.

Most volunteers spend one hour per week in the First and Second Grades. This year, over 340 hours have been accumulated from the 16 volunteers.

Beautiful geraniums and scented candles were appreciation gifts from the school and the Heart of Iowa Chapter. Special guest was Chapter President Lois Jacobson of Ames, who expressed thanks to all the teachers, students and volunteers for another successful year!
